Zimbabwe: Growing my business, growing my future

My name is Van Der Vaulter Tsunda. Before joining the Promoting Gender Inclusive Local Economic Development in Zimbabwe programme, I was already involved in farming, but I lacked the necessary skills and knowledge to take my business to the next level. I heard about the programme through Gender Links Zimbabwe, an NGO working in our district, Makoni. I was motivated to participate because I wanted to acquire new skills and knowledge that would help me improve my business and support my family more sustainably.

Since participating in the programme, my life has changed significantly. I have acquired new skills and knowledge in life skills, entrepreneurship, personal financial management, access to finance and enterprise development. These skills have helped me to improve my business and increase my income. Before the programme, my average income was USD 345 per month, but now it has increased to USD 850.

The programme has also empowered me to access financial services, which has been a game-changer for my business. I have been able to secure loans from the Agricultural Finance Corporation Bank in Zimbabwe (AFC) as working capital to further boost my business. This has not only increased my income but also enabled me to support my family more sustainably.

The programme has been a turning point for me, and I am excited to see the continued growth and success of my farming business. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in the programme and look forward to a brighter future.
