Botswana: Embracing the ancestral path- navigating tradition and modernity as a female traditional healer

The article focuses on Ga Nkuku Parental and Baby Wellness Centre in Francistown, a midwifery-led facility that provides prenatal, postnatal and parenting support services. The centre promotes alternative but effective approaches to maternal care, with a strong emphasis on empowering expectant parents and strengthening family support systems. 
 
Managed by Tiny Tlhabologang, an experienced midwife and nursing practitioner, the centre offers parent craft classes, couples coaching, birthing options, breastfeeding preparation and home-based care services. Tlhabologang highlights the importance of education, shared responsibility and emotional support in reducing avoidable maternal complications. 
 
The article also situates the work of Ga Nkuku within broader parenting support initiatives in Botswana, noting social and economic challenges faced by families and the importance of accessible, community-based care models.
