South Africa: Olga Dieketseng Morweng

Olga Dieketseng Morweng, an established entrepreneur from Phokwane Municipality and owner of Hillside Tuck Shop and Restaurant, highlighting how participating in the Sunrise Campaign strengthened her awareness, confidence, and business management skills. Through training on gender‑based violence, human rights, business planning, financial management, and customer retention, Olga reduced her vulnerability to abuse, improved relationships at home, and gained respect within her community. Her family‑run business operates from its own premises and sells basic household goods, food, and non‑food items, serving adults, youth, and children in the local community.
Since joining the programme, the business has expanded its stock, introduced new income‑generating services such as games, table pool, and iKhokha payment facilities, and attracted more customers through social media and word of mouth. Despite challenges such as limited capital and stock constraints, Olga manages her enterprise through careful pricing, record‑keeping, savings groups, and clear plans for registration, funding applications, and continued growth over the next six months.
