Mauritius: Bold New Podcast, Voices Unmuted
Gender Links Mauritius has launched a bold new podcast series titled Voices Unmuted, a space for honest, unfiltered conversations. Voices Unmuted  was created to amplify voices too often silenced - activists, thinkers, artists, and everyday changemakers who are challenging systems and reimagining the world.Hosted by Anushka Virahsawmy, Director of Gender Links Mauritius and Francophone Operations, each episode dives into urgent social, political, and environmental issues through a decolonial, feminist, and intersectional lens, with guests who speak truth to power. From the frontlines of resistance in Mauritius and beyond, this podcast is a space for raw stories, radical hope, and collective transformation.Episode 1: Trans Rights & RealitiesIn its very first episode, Anushka Virahsawmy, speaks with activist Hana Telvave (she/her/Miss), about transgender rights, lived experiences, and the realities faced by trans people locally and globally.Episode 2: Ecofeminism with Dr. Babita ThannooThe second episode features Dr. Babita Thannoo, Member of Parliament and part of the political movement Rezistans ek Alternativ in a powerful conversation on ecofeminism, climate justice and feminist resistance. This episode explores the deep links between the exploitation of nature and the oppression of women, the role of grassroots activism in building alternatives, and visions for a more just, sustainable Mauritius.Voices Unmuted is more than a podcast – it is a call to action for raw stories, radical hope, and collective transformation.Watch these and upcoming episodes.
