The Great People of South Africa was formed on the 10th of June 2019 and was officially registered on the 27th of August 2019 through the Department of Social Development. The organisation was started by Zintle Khobeni who is a human rights activist and now a 3rd year Law student at the University of South Africa She then mobilized other law students mainly women from various backgrounds to join her. Together they formed and registered the organisation with the sole intention of using the Constitution and their basic legal knowledge to establish a non-profit organisation that would function as a paralegal advice centre.  The organisation offers free basic legal advice and advocates against human rights violations towards people in indigent communities with specific target on women, children and the LGBTQI+ community while fearlessly advocating for their rights.

This project aims to provide an innovative platform to address the issue of mental health illness amongst victims of GBVF. This project will increase the number of victims and survivors who prefer to use art and other activities to deal with mental health illnesses. This project will encourage more women, young girls, and the LGBTQIA+ community to come forward and speak out against gender-based violence and mental health illness.
