Legabibo
The Lesbians, Gays and Bisexuals of Botswana – LEGABIBO, is the premier LGBTIQ+ organisation in Botswana, focusing exclusively on issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. At its core, LEGABIBO’s work centres around advocacy: that the human rights (including sexual and reproductive rights) of LGBTIQ+ people in Botswana would be respected, defended, protected, promoted, and fully realised.

In the face of ongoing marginalisation, stigma and legal invisibility, Botswana’s LGBTIQ community continues to demand a future rooted in dignity, equality and freedom. “Living Free, Living Well” is a bold, community-led intervention that brings together legal empowerment, healing justice, and public education to advance human rights and wellbeing for LGBTIQ persons in Botswana. This initiative responds by addressing the urgent need for integrated, holistic support mechanisms that go beyond crisis response. It centres three mutually reinforcing pillars:
- Healing our Stories: Psychosocial Support and Narrative Justice
- Policy Pulse: From Lived Realities to Legal Reform
- Roots & Resistance: Strengthening the LGBTIQ Movement
