Justice Desk Africa

Justice Desk Africa is an award-winning Human Rights Organisation that operates across various African countries. We were established in 2013, with the main goal of Promoting the Power of Everyday Activists.
Our mission is to empower everyday people, within all areas of society, to understand, defend and access their fundamental human rights. We believe that the everyday person understands their community and unique contexts like no other, and therefore are best suited to challenge the injustices that affect them and work towards transforming their communities for the better.
The Mbokodo and iNtsika yeThemba programmes aim to create safer, more equitable communities by addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and challenging harmful social norms. Mbokodo empowers young girls who are survivors of GBV, helping them rebuild their lives and become community leaders. iNtsika yeThemba educates young boys about respect, consent, and equality, promoting positive masculinity. Together, these programmes strive to shift cultural attitudes, reduce GBV, and foster a generation of youth who are equipped to advocate for gender equality and social change. The two programmes are implemented in the Western Cape only in Khayelitsha, Nyanga, Langa, Gugulethu, Bonteheuwel.
