Lerato Lesupi is a dedicated ambassador of MT Foundation who is passionate about creating positive change in her community. She is committed to protecting women and children from violence and discrimination, while advocating for their rights, dignity and safety. Having witnessed survivors of gender-based violence suffer in silence, she is deeply concerned about the impact of GBVF on young women and children. Through her work with MT Foundation and community-based movements, she supports advocacy that strengthens youth participation in preventing violence, promotes safer communities and encourages young people to speak out against injustice.

Background

Lerato has experience in education, administration, community mobilisation and gender-based violence prevention. She previously served as a student intern at Thabo Primary School in Botshabelo, where she supported teaching, creative arts activities, classroom management and learner motivation. She also worked as an executive secretary and personal assistant at the Free State Department of Education provincial office, where she supported administrative processes including minute taking, filing approved submissions, managing registers and handling correspondence from internal and external stakeholders.

She is currently a Project Manager at MT Foundation, where she manages training administration, project filing, reporting, presentations, client administration, coordination and operational data capturing. She also supports training activities, responds to client queries and performs client liaison duties at local functions.

Lerato has also contributed to work linked to the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, supporting the localisation of the National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide within local municipalities and district offices. Her work has included assisting Gender Focal Officers and Special Programmes Units to organise capacity building workshops, information sharing sessions and community engagements on the six pillars of the NSP on GBVF. She has supported the identification and organisation of stakeholders for GBVF Rapid Response Teams in several municipalities, facilitated workshops and contributed to the establishment and functioning of these teams.
