
Saeanna Chingamuka

Saeanna Chingamuka (1983-2016) was the founding manager of the Gender and Media Diversity Centre. She was a passionate media scholar and mentor whose dedication to nurturing young leaders continues through the internship programme named in her honour.
Saeanna earned a Bachelor of Arts honours degree from Midlands State University in Zimbabwe. She began her career in Zimbabwe at the Southern Africa Research and Documentation Centre before moving to South Africa to pursue her studies at Rhodes University, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in media studies. She joined Gender Links in 2008 as the Gender and Media Diversity Centre (GMDC) coordinator, later rising to manager and editor of GL’s Opinion and Commentary Service.
As the GMDC manager, Saeanna managed the Gender Links Internship programme, which has produced several young leaders worldwide.
She shared her exuberant enthusiasm, passion for learning and expertise in media and current affairs with her interns and work colleagues.
