Summit 2018 - Zibagwe Rural District Council

Zibagwe Rural District Council has a draft gender policy which guides gender activities. The council has 33 councillors (29 male and 4 female). The council has 6 committees and 2 are chaired by women. Regards to women’s participation in council activities 76-100% of women in Zibagwe participate in public meetings.
Zibagwe RDC has a staff complement of 38 employees, of whom only 13 are women. Women constitute only 25% of management (2 out of 8 managers). Zimbabwe by law prescribes a paid maternity leave of three months thus Zibagwe provisions for it. The council has no provision for paternity leave. The council does not have a sexual harassment policy and cases of sexual harassment are addressed through the council code of conduct. Zibagwe has disability-friendly access to its main office entrance.

In the area of local economic development Zibagwe Rural District Council has allocated 99% of market stalls to women, 90% of flea markets to women. Women, men and youth have
