Mphaki council is situated in Mphaki in the Quthing district. It has joined the COE process in 2014 as the fourth council in the district, it has completed all the 10 stages of the COE and entrepreneurship.The council has gender action plan that incorporates the Post 2015 SADC Gender Protocol, SDGs and other relevant targets, It is well known and has a high profile champion in the council. There are 24 council members and eight are women while 16 are men. The council has five committees and two are chaired by women of which one is social service. Both chairperson and deputy of the council are men.The women, people living with the disability (PWD) and youth participate in public gathering; from 26%-50%.They are also part of the decisions making and they make sure that they are well represented even though in small numbers.The council has seven employees and four are women, in management there are two and one is   woman. Both physical planner and finance officer are women.There is a provision of three months maternity leave and nursing hours for another three months after the maternity. Even though council does have not sexually harassment policy, but cases are reported at the police station. The council situated in a place where is accessible to everybody and facilities catered for disability people.Mphaki Community Council allocated budget to gender-related projects for the 2017 to 2018.

In terms of economic development, the council encourages women entrepreneurs to work hand in hand as to make

sure that easily access financial schemes that can be available, even though it is difficult as the council is located in the rural area.Women, PWD, and youth are equally involved in projects that prevent climate change such as waste management, sustainable energy and recycling and tree planting. And 120 have benefited from jobs created by the council; 25% are women.For land and housing 10 females and 50 males have been allocated land while  Water and sanitation the council has managed to improve 5 borehole, 812 hand pumps and 572 households had benefited.Click here to read more about the Mphaki Community Council.
