Introduction

Zvimba Rural District is Located in Mashonaland West Province and covers an area of 6 275 square kilometers. Zvimba is known for its Agriculture activity, fish and crocodile farming as well as Eco-Tourism and its proximity to Harare where it shares borders with Harare Metropolitan Province. The district’s main small urban centers – are Murombedzi Growth Point (which houses council’s Head Office), Banket, Nyabira, Raffingora, Mount Hampden, Trelawney, Mutorashanga, Mapinga and Darwendale.
Zvimba RDC is a model local authority in gender mainstreaming issues. The council is a hub council for Mashonaland West rural councils in the Hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming. It serves a total of 87,809 households with an average household size of 4.
