Introduction

Zibagwe Rural District Council is a rural local government arm in Kwekwe District created under the Rural District Councils Act: Chapter 20.13 in the Midlands province. The district is subdivided into 33 wards with 11 female and 22 male councillors, 47,359 households with a household size of 4.2 according to the 2022 population census.
The council is a Hub council for Midlands province rural councils. Zibagwe is a fast-improving rural council. The council has a gender committee that promotes inclusivity at work and embrace economic and social development.


Key Achievements

Two out of six committees in council are chaired by women.
Have a draft gender policy that guides its gender-related activities.
Constructed biogas digesters in each of its 33 wards, benefiting women and girls and contributing to climate change mitigation.
