The urban municipality of Fort-Dauphin is the capital of the Anosy Region. Its population was estimated at 70,000 in 2014. The municipality covers an area of 25,731 km². Fort-Dauphin is a well-known tourist destination in Madagascar, thanks to its beautiful beaches. However, access remains difficult due to inadequate infrastructure.
