Rural municipality of Ramena
The rural Municipality of Ramena is located 19 kilometers from Diego Suarez, in northern Madagascar. The commune has an estimated population of 11,000 inhabitants spread over an area of 105 km². The commune is divided into five fokontany (villages) and has five public primary schools, a secondary school, and a basic health center. The population lives mainly from fishing and tourism. A center of excellence for gender integration since 2014, the commune is in the process of implementing its gender action plan and plan to combat violence.
