Rural municipality of Ialananindro
The municipality of Ialananindro was one of the first municipalities selected as a model site in 2010. It is a major asset for the municipality to have a female mayor.
The council has a population of 8,095, with 4,892 women and 4,203 men. As a model commune, it has completed all the necessary steps and is now
participated three times in the national summit and brought the ranking
second place at the summit in Johannesburg. Looking at the municipalities' scorecards, it is clear that efforts to promote gender equality are increasing year by year.
Introduction

Ialananindro's mayor is convinced that the equal participation of men and women in all sectors is the key to development. Therefore, the municipality has a special budget for integrating gender equality and will organize
activities to combat violence, including the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence and March 8. “However, women's rights should not only be respected on these days, but all year long,” said the Mayor. The infrastructure plans, which have been approved by the municipality and announced to the public, greatly assist in implementing projects within the municipality.
Since being designated a proper venue, the municipality has completed many steps and tasks. The
All projects undertaken were specifically designed to address the needs of women and men, such as: building schools, closely monitoring the health of mothers and children, installing streetlights to prevent violence; the
road and market construction, and the adoption of special measures to prepare for the impacts of climate change. One of the community's most notable efforts is the promotion of gender equality in land ownership. Many land titles have been issued to women, a first because traditionally women have often been too afraid to claim their land rights.
