Qibing Community, situated in the southern part of Lesotho near Mafeteng district, is a dynamic rural area known for its rich cultural traditions, agricultural livelihoods, and strong community spirit. The people of Qibing rely primarily on crop farming, livestock rearing, and small informal businesses, all of which contribute to both household income and social cohesion. The community is characterized by close-knit village networks, vibrant local customs, and shared social institutions such as schools, health posts, and churches that help shape daily life and collective identity.
The Qibing Community Council, recognized as a Council Centre of Excellence (COE), plays a key role in driving local governance and development initiatives. Guided by Lesotho’s decentralization framework, the council focuses on improving service delivery, promoting community participation, and strengthening accountability in local decision-making. As a COE, the council is committed to integrating principles of gender equality, transparency, and evidence-based planning into its operations.
