Nyaminyami Rural District Council is located in Kariba District, in Mashonaland West Province, approximately 280 kilometers from Chinhoyi the provincial capital using the Chirundu highway bordering Hurungwe, Gokwe, Binga and Zambezi River to Zambia. Nyaminyami is home to the Kariba Dam which they share with Kariba Municipality. There are vast opportunities in tourism exploring the vast wildlife, construction of lodges and hotel. Nyaminyami boarders with the Zambezi river to Zambia, Sanyati, Hurungwe and Binga districts.

The council is a spoke council in the Hub and Spoke programme for gender mainstreaming in Zimbabwe mentored by Zvimba Rural District Council. It has 11,091 households with an average size of 4.1 per household.
