Norton is a small town in the province of Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe, located about 40 km west of Harare on the main road and railway line connecting Harare and Bulawayo.
Introduction

Norton is a small town in the province of Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. It is located about 40 km west of Harare on the main road and railway line connecting Harare and Bulawayo. The farmlands surrounding the town produce a range of crops including tobacco, maize and wheat, and cattle rearing for the beef and dairy industries are also an important element of the local economy.
The council has progressed as COE since joining the programme in 2015. Norton Town Council is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming in local government being mentored by Chinhoyi Municipality. It has a total of 21,966 households with an average household size of 4.


Key Achievements

Council adopted a Local Economic Development Plan on 10 November 2023 to run until 2025.
Adopted Gender mainstreaming activities within communities.
Promotion of Sexual Reproductive and Health Rights activities and facilities.
