Linecurve pink 2x

Murewa Rural District Council is implementing the Promoting Gender Inclusive Local Economic Development in Zimbabwe through Solid Waste Management. This involves waste collection (both plastic and sewer), sorting, and recycling. The project also strengthens the local authority’s LED plans and policies. Strengthening these plans and policies ensures that local government procurement promotes women-owned enterprises.

Murewa Rural District Council is situated 75 kilometres northeast of the capital of Harare, on the road to Tete (Mozambique). The local authority is a hub council for Mashonaland East province local authorities in the Hub and Spoke programme for gender mainstreaming in Zimbabwe. Murewa us one of the best performing local authorities in gender mainstreaming, having won numerous accolades both in the country and region.
