Marondera Municipality is located in Mashonaland East, some 70km East of the Capital City Harare.  The town is now the centre for a large and progressive farming community around which some industries have been established. It is the model centre of administration for the whole province as well as servicing the several rural growth points surrounding it. 


Marondera municipality is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming. The council attained the bronze category at the 2020 local government SADCProtocol@Work summit. The municipality serves a population of 66,203 of whom 47% are females and 53% are males. The total number of households under the municipality is 18,592 with an average size of 3.6.
