Maoa-Mafubelu Community Council COE

Maoa-Mafubelu is a community council situated in the Leribe District of northern Lesotho. As a local government body, its council plays a vital role in community planning, resource management, and socio-economic development. Comprising 23 elected members — with a balanced gender representation — the council has been recognized for advancing inclusive governance, especially through its engagement with youth, people with disabilities, and gender-responsive policies.

Over time, it has partnered with organizations such as Gender Links, Action Aid, and World Vision to implement projects on gender equity, local infrastructure, and environmental sustainability, demonstrating a strong commitment to community-led development.
