Introduction

Kusile Rural District Council is in Lupane, Matabeleland North Province in Zimbabwe which lies at an elevation of 976 m. In 2006, it had 1,600 inhabitants. It is on the road from Bulawayo to Hwange.
It is a rural, semi-arid area, which cultivates cotton and corn and host Lupane State University. The region has been explored for Coal Bed Methane (CBM) and a resource of over 370,000,000 cubic kilometres is thought to exist in the area.
Kusile is a spoke council in the Hub and Spoke programme for gender mainstreaming, mentored by Umguza RDC.

Incorporated gender inclusive plans into development initiatives, focusing on areas like economic empowerment and social services.
12 women councillors out of a total of 35, which is a positive representation of women in policy formulation positions
