Introduction
Nestled in the southern African kingdom of Lesotho, Kanana is a community‐council area in the Berea District, with the official designation of a “community council” under Lesotho’s local government structure. It spans a terrain sitting at approximately 1,553 metres above sea level.
The local governing body, referred to as the Kanana Community Council (also known in some documents as Kanana D08), is responsible for overseeing development, service delivery and community‐based governance in the area.
