Hwedza RDC is located about 50 kilometres south of Marondera, and 127 kilometres south of Harare.

Hwedza RDC is located about 50 kilometres south of Marondera, and 127 kilometres south of Harare. Hwedza is well connected to other towns by tarred roads. Out of its 15 wards, 11 are communal and 4 are resettlements. Agro-based economy with few mining activities.
The council serves a population of 74,869 where 51% (38,383) are females and 49% (36,486) are males. The district has 19,773 households with an average size of 3.8. The council is mentored by Murehwa RDC. in the hub and spoke gender mainstreaming programme
Key Achievements
Women constitute 40% representation in policy making, with 3 elected women councilors and 5 through the quota system.
15% procurement tenders were awarded to women owned business by Council.
