Guruve is one of several districts in the Mashonaland Central province of Zimbabwe.

Introduction

Guruve is one of several districts in the Mashonaland Central province of Zimbabwe. The district capital is the town of Guruve. It has 2 districts, which are Upper Guruve Rural District and the Lower Guruve Rural District which is locally known and referred to as Mbire District. Mbire District can be traced back to the Munhumutapa Dynasty. Guruve is demarcated into 2 constituencies which are Guruve-North and Guruve-South constituencies.
The council has established a waiting home for expecting mothers. There are laundry facilities for the mothers after they give birth at the waiting home. The council has also initiated a programme for distributing sanitary wear to all schools and maternity wards. The council improved its rating from Blue to Bronze in the 2020 local government SADC Protocol@Work summit.
The council is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming, mentored by Bindura RDC.


Key Achievements

The council has made a decisive move to foster local economic development by formalizing and supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) within its jurisdiction in 2024.
