Grand Port Council

Grand Port Council
Grand Port is the Southernmost district of Mauritius, stretching westwards from the sugar-growing village of Savannah along a coast that is the island’s most rugged.

Introduction

Grand Port Council has been working towards implementing its Gender Action Plan. In 2014, Grand Port hosted the Study Visit held where representatives from all local councils were present. This was also an opportunity to visit the Mare Chicose National Landfill which is situated in Grand Port. In February 2016, the Welfare department of Grand Port asked Gender Links to do an expose on the Sustainable Development Goals which was a real success with the presence of Councillors and organisations.
