 Goromonzi which is a peri urban district in Mashonaland East Province covers an area of 254 072 square kilometres. The district falls under Agro-Ecological zone with rainfall pattern of 800-1000mm. The area has communal, commercial farming, mining, horticultural activities and formal employment and informal sector. The district is fast growing due to its proximity to urban areas.

The council serves a population of 386, 199 where 52% (199,006) are females and 48% (187,193) are males. The district has 101,631 households with an average household size of 3.8. The council is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming, being mentored by Murehwa RDC
