Epworth Local Board lies about 15km southeast of Harare and sits on a land mass of 36 square kilometres and is boarded by Harare to the north, west and south and Ruwa and Goromonzi Rural District to the East.

Epworth Local Board lies about 15km southeast of Harare and sits on a land mass of 36 square kilometres and is boarded by Harare to the north, west and south and Ruwa and Goromonzi Rural District to the East.
The council is a spoke council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming, mentored by Harare City Council. The council has a gender committee that steers gender activities. Epworth has a draft gender policy in place. The total population of the district is 206,365 where 51% are women with 9 ward and 3 female and 6 male councillors. The council serves 56,686 households with an average household size of 3.6

44% of women are in senior management positions in council.
