Beitbridge Rural District Council is situated in the southern tip of Matabeleland South Province, bordering South Africa to the south, Mozambique to the east Botswana to the west.

Introduction

Beitbridge Rural District Council is situated in the southern tip of Matabeleland South Province, bordering South Africa to the south, Mozambique to the east Botswana to the west. Beitbridge District Council covers 12 697 kilometers Beitbridge district is one of the driest areas in Zimbabwe falling under Agro-ecological Region V. Despite this, Beitbridge district is the largest producer of cattle in the country. Beitbridge Rural District Council is the local authority that creates an enabling environment for development of the district and its people. Arguably sharing the busiest entry point to and from Zimbabwe which is the Beitbridge Border Post. The local authority is known for its wildlife conservancy.
The council is a mentee council for Umguza Rural District Council in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming. The total households according to 2022 census was 23,197 with an average household size of 4.1.
