This feature story brings to the public an amazing woman, Naomi Kachuma, from Kwayera village, Traditional Authority Kalumo ’s area in Ntchisi district in the Central Region of Malawi. Kachuma lives in an area where child labour cases are rampant. Her two children, a boy and a girl, were engaged in child labour as they could not go to school due to lack of school resources. But the mother realized the significance of education to children, therefore she pondered ways to overcome poverty in her home. She joined a Village Savings Loans group from which she could borrow money and pay an interest. Her children are now back in school and it is her hope and optimism to see them going to secondary school and later to college. This story is a good example of gender in the media because it is showing that women too can take and overcome a challenge of taking care of their home.
