Bontle Precedence Selekane works with high school learners in township and rural communities, especially first generation students and those facing GBV, stigma or limited SRHR information. Through school clubs, she creates safe spaces where young people in all their diversities can grow, ask questions and be heard. Her advocacy promotes gender equality and social justice by protecting learners from GBV and discrimination, strengthening SRHR knowledge and building future leaders who can uplift their communities.

Background

Bontle began her journey with a one year qualification as a Community Health Care Worker, which grounded her in public health and community needs. She then served as a Paralegal Officer, gaining skills in legal support, rights based advocacy and case documentation. She currently works with the Resoketswe Lebjane Foundation as a School Club Mentor and Facilitator for the Leaders of Change fellowship, where she trains and mentors young people to become future community leaders.

Current Projects / Work

As a Sisterhood Advocate, Bontle works at community level to prevent GBV through door to door awareness campaigns that reach women and girls in their homes. She provides psychosocial support, mediation and community mobilisation to address conflict and link survivors to services. In schools, she mentors clubs in three schools to create safe spaces where learners access SRHR information. She also co-facilitates Department of Labour programmes focused on UIF, helping youth and workers understand and access employment benefits.
