Tsumeb Council walks the talk of Gender Equality

The Municipal Council of Tsumeb undertakes to remove all barriers to employment of both men & women. In this connection, Council will embark upon a process of transformation of its labour force by taking specific measures to create equity in employment and to employ and develop employees in line with the Affirmative Action Act as well as well as gender equality. 

Appropriate steps will be taken to ensure that all employees and job applicants are advised of this policy and the eliminations and prohibition of discrimination. All stakeholders (Management, Union and others) shall be fully advised of this policy. 

The gender champions comprises of Deputy Management Committee Chairperson, 1x Member of Management Committee, Economic Development Officer and the Senior Administator/ Employee Wellness Officer. The Human Resources Manager is the Focal Person spearheading the Gender issues. 

Council shall formulate policies providing directly or indirectly for the advancement of the gender groups in Namibia consistent with the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia. Previously, managerial positions were male dominated. Currently the ration has changed tremendously since in most top positions women are represented; namely, Mrs. Monique Muturi, Human Resources Manager and Mrs. Karolina Damaseb, Finance Manager.
