Promoting Safe Motherhood Through Infection Control And Prevention- Kadoma City

| Gender Links
One of the major causes of maternal deaths is infection (puerperal sepsis). This causes 8% of maternal deaths according to Ministry of Health and Child Care 2012. Poor infection control affects mother, child and the health worker (care giver). Ultimately this contributes to higher maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality rates. Kadoma City Health department successfully championed and supported a safe mothehood at Rimuka Maternity Home. The program included infection control training, procurement of equipment, and safe delivery. This program satisfies Article 26 of the SADC gender protocol.
