Women of the South Speak Out (WOSSO)
A fellowship powering young feminist leaders to influence policy, shape narratives and drive change.
Women of the South Speak Out (WOSSO) is a feminist leadership fellowship implemented by Gender Links. It supports young women to step into spaces of influence, contribute to advocacy and strengthen movements for gender justice. WOSSO is rooted in the belief that young feminist voices are essential to shaping policy, shifting narratives and driving equality.
Current phase

WOSSO is currently implemented under the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership (RWVL) programme, funded by Global Affairs Canada. In this phase, the fellowship is focused in South Africa, strengthening young feminist leadership and deepening engagement within national and regional advocacy spaces. This builds on WOSSO’s broader legacy of supporting feminist leadership across the Global South while clearly marking the current phase of the fellowship.

Fellowships

WOSSO fellows are placed within organisations where they contribute to real programmes, advocacy and movement-building work. They support research, communications, policy engagement, campaigns and organisational initiatives while developing their own areas of focus and leadership.

Stories of change

From influencing policy conversations to strengthening community voices, WOSSO fellows are contributing to real change. Their stories show how feminist leadership grows through practical experience, collective action and advocacy.
