Will FLY was founded in 2008 and is currently based at Black River. It provides children from suburbs with a safe and calm milieu to do their homework after school. It teaches them values such as discipline and non-violence. Will FLY provides these children with stationery materials and caters for their basic needs in terms of clothing and food. The goal of Will FLY is to merely help children and not replace their parents or school. It offers aid to children who are from broken families and prone to vices such drugs and violence. It aims to build a community whereby children support and respect each other, and are willing to share. Will FLY aims to educate children who are the adults of tomorrow. It aims to equip them with skills so that they can become responsible Mauritian citizens and leaders of tomorrow. Will FLY offers a safe space for children to do their homework after school on weekdays between 4pm to 6.30pm. It teaches them basic life skills so that they can become independent. Will FLY has an open ear for their problems and needs. It works towards their reinsertion in an inclusive and sustainable society through education. Will FLY organises “Vacances actives” during their school holidays and organises a series of activities. It invites other students from AISEC or the University of Mauritius to participate in an exchange programme and interact with the children. The projects have benefited 114 children, 50 young people and 5 adults, living in the regions of Black River and Tamarin. The total budget amounts to Rs1,500,000:
  • Food, Drinks and Sundries: Rs 646,000
  • General Expenses: Rs105,000
  • Stationery: Rs 249,000 (Books, school materials for secondary)
  • Salary: Rs500,000 (IT teacher, Field worker, Social workers)
