Masvingo City COE

Up until October 2012 very little had been done to mainstream gender into all the structures and activities carried out by the Masvingo City Council. With the appointment of a gender focal person still little was done. When the GFP attended the first summit it was clear there was more to gender mainstreaming and was enlightened and challenged. Much progress has been made in that there is more community involvement in gender programs .A working group made up representative from each section who will work with the GFP. Men are more comfortable discussing gender issues. The concept of gender is better understood and the need for a gender policy is appreciated and plans to draw up one are in place. In conclusion Masvingo city is a Centre of Excellence in gender mainstreaming.
