Mabetha Manteboheleng
Manteboheleng has over 15 years of experience in gender mainstreaming, advocacy, training, management and related development challenges in Lesotho. She worked together with multiple national institutions and NGOs on gender related topics such as gender integration, gender-based violence, gender and climate justice and capacity building & training focus on woman empowerment.
Manteboheleng served as a teacher for six year teaching accounting and commerce. It was during this time that her management skills improved as she was the Head of Department for Commercial and Practical Subjects.
Later on, in 2007, she joined the Ministry of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation of Gender as Principal District Gender officer. During this time, she was responsible for the coordination of the national gender programme at the district level and organized multiple training and advocacy campaigns at community level.
In 2014, joined Gender Links to become the Lesotho Country Manager. Here she performed various tasks ranging from governance and compliance, fundraising and donor management, implementation of projects, stakeholder engagement, training and capacity building and staff supervision. During this time, she has been engaged in designing and implementing different projects funded by the European Union, UNFPA, GIZ, Amplify Change, United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), African Women’s Development Fund (ADWF) and UK AID. She has a strong background in building partnerships with government ministries, civil society organizations, development partners and donors and leverages on such partnership to improve the project implementation.
In 2024, Ms. Manteboheleng was appointed as the Manager, Women’s Political Participation, for Gender Links Regional Office. In this position, she is responsible for the overseeing the implementation of the project titled Enhancing Women’s Political Participation in Africa project is a 5-year partnership between the Swedish Embassy in Ethiopia and International IDEA as the lead of seven consortium partners namely; International Idea, FAWE, FEMNET, Gender Links, IFAN Gender Laboratory, PADARE and WLSA.
She holds a Bachelor degree in Education from the National University of Lesotho and the Masters degree in Education from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.
