Gender in media content is has a great importance because women have been portrayed in a negative way over the men.Since the establishment of campaigns to empower women in order to recognize their contribution from the family to national level of development, the world has witnessed how women can do better and sometimes more than men in different aspects. Talking of agriculture, Women are the backbone of the development of rural and national economies. They comprise 43% of the world ’s agricultural labor force, which rises to 70% in some countries. In Africa, 80% of the agricultural production comes from small farmers, who are mostly rural women.The Tanzania Home of Economics Association, TAHEA is a professional National Non-Government Organization (NGO ’s) founded in March 1980.TAHEA works in partnership with other Organizations to promote Sweet Potato Production especially Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato for health, nutrition, food security and income for resource poor households. The Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato have been promoted due to their added value, as they are inexpensive source of vitamin A content for rural farming communities hence improve the utilization for sweet potatoes in general.In Tanzania, TAHEA which is located in Mwanza, is lead by women, whereby through the agriculture programs especially on promoting Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato, the organization has enabled to reach many families, by encouraging them to plant and cultivate the Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato, which is new in Tanzania, and it take three months grow and produce many potatoes.Therefore, the media need to consider the contribution of women in development activities, because they can, and their place in the society must be realized. TAHEA, has brought a greet green revolution on agriculture sector, as many families now especially in Lake Zone Regions, have enough food, better health and their income is generating.
