LESBIAN OR GAY STILL MY FAMILY (Embracing the rights of LGBTI)

Mainstreaming LGBTI (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex) into gender programmes /activities and we are part of Hate Crime Researchers. LGBTI has been left out in all the programmes/activities and thereâ € ™s no one who want to associate themselves with them because they see it as a taboo. LGBTI are people just like anyone they have rights and freedom to live. Polokwane Municipality identified a gap where gender based violence was not addressed to Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex. Most people, who are raped, brutally killed, discriminated and hated are LGBTI people because of their condition. They are male and female just like us but living their own lives. Some Christians think that they are possessed; the community think that they are bewitched and while say they are not normal and are not permitted to live amongst the people. The Municipality came up with a programme to change the mindset of the society concerning LGBTI people and to educate them for the community to welcome them everywhere. e.g at schools (no longer want them to drop out of school because of being discriminated), communities (to accept them) and government (to work with the NGO and to be employed like others).
