Caring for the welfare of children with disabilities through showing love and support.

Chobe Safari Lodge/Chobe Fish Eagle adopted the Kachikau Primary School Special Care Unit for the Mentally and Physically Disabled Youth of the Chobe District in September 2013 in order to comply with Vision 2016. We believe this good practice is related to the chosen theme because these mentally and physically disabled children and particularly vulnerable to GBV in particular sexual abuse, emotional and verbal abuse because they cannot stand up for themselves. By getting involved with this school, we believe the initiative is a good practice because it brings awareness to the community, children's parents and teachers of the Kachikau Primary School as well as the Chobe District. Additionally, we are not necessarily of the opinion that our interactions with the children prevent GBV but we believe that our efforts along with the exposure gained brings to the fore front these members of our community and their challenges. Ultimately the initiative highlights the fact that these children are protected, mentored and cared for, thereby influencing others from within our community to become more aware and involved in this issue.
