Zambia, which hosted the 2007 summit of leaders of SADC, will go down in history as one of the countries in the region that fought hard for the Protocol on Gender and Development signed in South Africa the following year. Yet Zambia lags behind when it comes to one of the key targets of this Protocol: women’s equal participation in decision-making.
