A few days before the start of the Sixteen Days of Activism on Gender Violence a cynical friend asked: “What is the point? When it’s all over your red and white ribbons will be discarded and everyone will forget … after all old habits die hard.” She was right about one thing, old habits do die hard. But if truth be told, the Sixteen Days Campaign is about much more than “changing habits.” The campaign has, as its purpose, something much more difficult - changing attitudes and mindsets.
