KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hospitality & Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Gender Links Cottages.
- Ensure a warm, professional and memorable guest experience from arrival to departure.
- Manage reservations, check-ins, check-outs and guest enquiries.
- Coordinate housekeeping, maintenance and general upkeep of the facility.
- Monitor occupancy, bookings and room availability.
- Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Coordinate conferences, meetings, functions and other events hosted at the Cottages.
- Ensure the facility consistently meets high standards of cleanliness, service and presentation.
Financial & Administrative Management
- Monitor daily income, bookings, expenses and operational costs.
- Maintain accurate records of bookings, purchases, stock and suppliers.
- Prepare regular operational and financial reports for management.
- Monitor food and other operational costs and identify opportunities for savings.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and negotiate where appropriate.
- Support invoicing, payment follow-up and other administrative functions.
Business Development
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute actively to growing the business by:
- Identifying opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue.
- Building relationships with corporates, NGOs, government departments, training institutions and other potential clients.
- Promoting conferences, events and catering services.
- Encouraging repeat bookings and referrals.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the profitability and competitiveness of the Cottages.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will be:
- A qualified an experienced individual with hospitality management experience.
- Hands-on, energetic and willing to get involved in all aspects of the business.
- A strong customer-service professional who genuinely enjoys working with people.
- Commercially minded and able to understand occupancy, revenue, costs and profitability.
- Highly organised with good administrative and record-keeping skills.
- Comfortable working with budgets, Excel and basic financial information.
- An effective problem solver who remains calm under pressure.
- Creative and innovative in developing menus, guest experiences and business opportunities.
- Able to manage staff, suppliers and service providers effectively.
- Flexible and willing to work weekends, public holidays and extended hours when operationally required.
- Computer literate, with good communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Relevant qualification in Professional Hospitality Management, Hotel Management or a related field.
- At least 3–5 years' relevant experience in hospitality, preferably in a guesthouse, B&B, boutique hotel or similar establishment.
- Experience managing bookings, events, suppliers and hospitality staff will be an advantage.
- Experience in cost control, stock management and hospitality administration.
- A valid driver's licence would be an advantage.
