Half a time, stories around/ about women or females are told through a male lenses and the four stories I am submitting – Human trafficking, orphans, GBV and gender agenda – perfectly demonstrate how stories about women must be told.As a media practitioner I strongly feel that I played a huge role in highlighting gender issues telling them through the subject ’s eyes, not through the dominant side as it is normally done. The stories not only highlight gender issues but acknowledges that gender topics are not only about women but even men can be victims of gender inequality even though it is in rare cases. Such stories are gender based violence rife in Lesotho and Female achievers must drive gender agenda. The story of human trafficking might not seem as a gender in media content if lightly looked into but going deeper, it highlights that female aren ’t only prone to human trafficking but are trafficked by close relatives who end-up sexually abusing these girls/victims.Telling female stories through female lenses not only reach home faster and in a more relevant ways but employer such people perceived as victims to automatically become heroes by breaking the silence. While I can firmly attest to the fact that female voices are hard to get, these four stories prove a point that given the opportunity and patiently encouraged to speak out, and female voices make a good reading in a gender-based stories.
