Gender based Violence

I wrote this story on gender based violence entitled â € œUkatili wa kijinsiâ € , I wrote this story because of the increase of the molestation of children,(both girls and boys) in Zanzibar. Even though the Zanzibar government has put in measures to combat this scourge,it has proven to be difficult to enforce them.The sexual harassment of mibnors has affected children and women of Zanzibar as well as policy makers.even though there is a law but still the situation isnâ € ™t good for women and children. Although there is special centre for abused children called, â € œOne stop centreâ € ,it is not functioning to its full capacity to help children who have affected by sexual harassment. While some of the children who are affected get good treatment while some don't. The story was a good initiative because I was explaining and showing the effects of rape,child molestation and as well as gender based violence, not only that but also to educate and mobilise society in combating gender based violence. As a media person I have the responsibility to educate and inform society in order to reinforce peace and security as well as to take care for their children. For instance those family who are affected,first of all their no need to clean them, but the good way to bring him/her up to the One Stop Centre in order to get medical checking and letter on to open the case for the suspect people.
