World Challengers is an organisation that is community based and that aimed at helping young kids both girls and boys to realise their dreams through their talents and skills. We aim at providing a platform where they can freely express themselves and what they would like to do as individuals. We full time at based Soweto. The founders are both students at the University of Pretoria, studying full time.ContextThe ultimate goal for our organisation is to reach out to many other communities where hope has been lost. We are trying to take out young kids from the streets by keeping them busy with something interesting like teaching them how to dance, sing, poetry, and other Arts and Culture activities. We want more kids to join the organisation as we know and believe that kids are the future and a way to prevent the future from being ruined is through kids. Empowering them and instilling necessary knowledge will help them to believe in themselves and capabilities.Key ActionsAs means of trying to build confidence in each one of them, we host events at the end of each year where they get to perform and display their talents. Practises of the performances take place during school holidays. We also host tutoring and teaching sessions during school holidays and every Saturday morning at a local school.PartnersThe Co-founders are the ones who made it happen, by launching their organisation in 2017. Parents, local business, schools and churches.StrategiesThe strategies educate, constantly on alcohol and substance abuse in our community, and giving them something to do during their free time that brought the urgency of saving many young kids from engaging in those activities as well.ChallengesOne of the many challenges that we have faced as an organisation is not having any sort of funding. Everything we provide for the kids i.e books, food and gifts for every event we host is from our own capital. Funding the events as well is from our own funding. We are sometimes unable to find appropriate venues for our events and it poses as one of our main biggest challenges. With the increasing number of children we have, we are in desperate need of funds as we cant place a limit to number of kids we sponsor as an organisation. We also have problems with transportation of kids to innovative centres and theatres where they can learn a few things about performing.Immediate results and next stepsWe have touched more than 50 lives and families and that for us on its own is a huge achievement. Launching and seeing the project becoming successful every day is also rewarding and inspiring. Our next step is to open offices as an organisation and have full time staff members working there.Long term ImpactIn the end, as the current generation is being positively impacted by the organisation, It means that also the upcoming generation will be impacted.  We want to groom the current generation so that they can be able to take over from us. In a sense, we are creating a platform for them, we are setting a foundation for them to pave.Learning and ApplicationFrom this organisation, we have learned how to be selfless and how to put other people’s needs before ours. We have learnt how to work effectively with people, loving, and caring for people genuinely and unconditionally. As our motto says, nothing is impossible and indeed nothing is impossible for as long you put your mind and heart to it.
