Mary Mliswa is a renowned Zimbabwean politician who has successfully navigated the complexities of politics, defying societal expectations and gender stereotypes. Born into a family with a strong interest in politics, Mary's journey began when she joined Zimbabwean political structures while she was abroad. With a strong foundation in politics, Mary's determination to challenge the status quo led her to become a Member of Parliament for Hurungwe West constituency and later, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West Province. 

Her success can be attributed to her strategic thinking, resilience, and determination. Mary credits organizations like Gender Links and funding from the European Union for empowering her and other women to take on leadership roles in politics. As the current Hurungwe Rural District Council Chairperson, Mary continues to break barriers and inspire other women to participate in politics. Throughout her career, Mary has encountered numerous challenges, including discrimination and sexism. However, she has developed a resilient attitude, using strategies like humour and continuous learning to overcome obstacles. Mary's commitment to promoting women's political participation and community development has earned her a reputation as a trailblazing leader in Zimbabwean politics.
