Who we work with

Gender Links is often described as a “small organisation with large footprints” because we have strategically developed a programme delivery mechanism based on partnerships, networking and collaboration.
The partnerships span national and local government, civil society, faith-based organisations and media fraternities. This gives us the ability to reach broadly across society, the fact that we do is evidence of the commitment from activists, policymakers and other drivers of change to ensure that the Southern African region achieves gender equality.
Our work spans 15 countries and we are always reaching out to global partners to make a mark.
Women’s rights and gender equality networks
The SADC Gender Protocol Alliance (the Alliance) works through national focal networks and theme clusters at regional level, with whom Gender Links has MOUs.
By 2014 we had increased the number of formal MOUs to 144, including the 85 formal media programme partnerships. With 14 partners in each, Madagascar, Zambia and South Africa are the countries with the largest number of formal partnerships.
Also, we have nine international partnerships advocacy around the post-2015 agenda.
Local government
Through a series of Centres of Excellence for Gender in Local Government, Gender Links has built relations with local government line ministries and associations while attracting key allies from civil society.
Media
Our work with media houses involves memoranda of understanding (MOUs) signed with these organisations.
We also have several MOU’s with media education and development organisations through our Gender and Media Diversity Centre. We are a member of the Global Alliance on Media and Gender.
The media programme – Gender Links’ first programme – has 85 formal partnerships, our largest set of partnerships .
