Mercilene Machisa joined Gender Links in April 2010 as an intern in the Gender Justice Programme. In July 2010 she became the Gender Justice programme officer .She now holds the position of Indicators Research Manager. Her main contribution within the project from the onset has been her data management and analysis skills.

Prior to joining Gender Links, Mercilene was employed by the National Institute of Health Research in Zimbabwe as a Medical Research Officer. She has considerable research experience with a bias towards public health. She holds a first class BSC (Hons) degree in Biological Sciences from the Midlands State University and is currently studying towards an MSc (Med) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics degree with the University of Witwatersrand.
